What does the garmin show for signal with the satelites? I know mine when turned on first thing i have to stick it in the window so they will track on 320 and dc 40 collars.

If hand entering the id code doesn't work then I recommend a master rest on both units. Also you could try adding a buddy's collar to ur 220 and ur collar to his hand held to see what unit has the issue

I have constant problems with my dc40's loosing signal while hunting and
eventually they never comeback. The only solution that has worked for me
is returning them for new ones.

    GPS and DC40 connection

Post  Phil Reynolds on Sun Jul 21, 2013 10:26 pm

I have 5 DC40 collars and 2 of them were always losing communication with my 220 and distance wasn't the issue as I would be getting good readings on 3 of the collars and the dogs could be anywhere from a 100 to 800 yards. I just purchased 2 new replacement antenna's and now all five collars are getting readings whenever the dogs are within range. No more ? every hundred yards for who knows how long a time period.

There is a little wire that runs through the collar on the 30s it connects the gps thing on the top to the battery and the communication unit i guess youd call it and that ive hear sometimes goes bad from all the movement it gets but u dont see it so it can be a hidden problem...

When I ran the 30's I would punch new holes and move the GPS module a half inch closer to the battery housing. This seamed to help tremendously. Bad thing is you can't find just the module, you have to by the whole collar/antenna kit.

Gun dog supply is where I get mine, but you should make sure it is your antenna, since its such a new collar.
