    220 problems

    Post  bluetickwalker9 on Thu Aug 29, 2013 4:26 am

Anybody ever had any problems with 220's losing communication only 500 yards out? Been tracking dogs up over a mile and recently I'm losing them at 500 yards, 700 if I'm lucky. Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem an might know a solution

Updating is differnt from calabrating. you can find the calibration in the settings. Though this is probably not the issue but its one stop forward. You can also try clearing all tracks in the settings, once the memory gets full the gps will starting doing alot of funkie things. My guess is the anttena or just an old wore out unit. If one of the last two are the issue you have a few options
    1) ordering a factory or aftermarket antenna; heres the aftermarket one i use and really like, http://www.dugraphics.com/shop/astro-antennas/garmin-astro-14-inch-flexible-antenna/
    2) threw Garmin you can get your unit remanufatured for $150.00. http://www8.garmin.com/support/outofwarranty.html
    3) upgrade to a 320

yeah had an extended roof antenna for the gps which worked awesome. could track the dogs on the gps for up to 3 miles without loosing communication but the big antenna increased the intensity of the marine radio antenna and fried the unit im pretty sure. ended up just going to beans and upgrading to the 320 with a lifetime warranty. thanks for the suggestions anyways though fellas
